My mom just got a 84 mercury grand marquis an we took out the old stock radio an put in a kenwood headunit in an wired it up an checked my connections an all an it powers up an sound came out of the speakers an then not even a mile goin down the road the sound cut off but the radio stayed on an we put the stock one in an does the same comes on but no sound. SO my question is, is the radio bad an need to get another one, cause someone told me about a common or uncommon ground that might or might not be in the car an was wondering if thats the case can i fix it myself or will i need to take it to a car audio shop an let them fix it?

  1. either ask a friend who is good w/ audio, or take it to a specialist. it sounds like your mom maybe have loose/bad wiring in her car.
