Question:

Again to the Conservatives?

I previously asked some questions to get some insight on how the other side thinks. I'm not looking for angry answers, just intelegant answers to help me better understand.

1.It sounds from the previous questions like the problem with taxes is the way the government abuses it. But if there were stricter guidlines and enforcements of that, would you still have a problem paying taxes to the government.

2.Abortion, I realize that poor people shouldn't have kids if they can't afford it. What do you think would help prevent poverity pregnecy so that abortion doesn't have to be an option?

3.I work with mental health patients. Most of whom couldn't work to take care of themselves, their familys abandoned them, and without medication they'd be a danger to themselves or others. And on top of that I have a friend with MS who can work if she has her medicine but whom the government denies bennifits if she works. She only has a highschool diploma, if there isn't student aid and no medicaid

  1. Education.  We must remember that all abortions are not poverty pregancys.  Planned Parenthood has made it possible for anybody to kill babies wheverver they want too. Our moral values are all out of wack!  As long as we teach people that a baby is not a person, then the murder will go on.  This is not a Conservative or Liberal issue.  This is an issue that all of humanity must address and put an end too.

We don't have a problem paying taxes for programs that better the life of humanity.  We want all people to have health care.  But to have health care like Cuba or Canada is not or should not be the goal.  We have the best to offer in Education, therefore, we should and can come up with a plan to help all people.

  2. The people you describe receive less aid and more red tape in order to get it because of the fact that taxes are being abused.  People who can work and don't, and people who are illegally in the country should not have access to tax funds that should be helping our mentally disabled, physically disabled and elderly.

My grandmother languished in a rest home with dimentia for years.  The family still owned the ranch she spent most of her adult life on, and if you don't think ranch wives work, you're very sheltered.

Anyway, the ranch was on the market for several years and not being worked, and she ran out of money.  Would Medicare, which she paid into since the 40s, give her any money for the rest home bill?  No.  She owned more than $3,000.00-worth of property.  Even though it was not creating any income, she failed to qualify for Medicare.  Yet someone who never did a d**n thing to deserve it gets it.  Where did Grandma's money go?  To those people.  That is UNFAIR.  Any way you shake it, look at it or try to spin it, that is just plain unfair.

It is this kind of abuse and regulation that give your government programs the stigma they have among conservatives.

  3. Yes government abuses taxes. The purpose of the federal government is to provide for the protection of the country and to print money. I am all for helping people out when they need a hand, the thing is if I TAKE money from you and use it to help someone in need, it is theft. I believe in charity and give plenty, but it irks me that the government forces it on me.

As for abortion, it is just wrong. would anyone abort a baby at 9 months? probably not. 8 months? 7? first trimester? How bout first trimester + 1 day?Where do we draw the lin and how do we know exactly how far along a pregnancy is?

I believe in choice, but the choice is not to get pregnant, not to kill your child.

  4. Great questions.  I'm a die hard conservative.  I value freedom over almost everything.  I'm glad that you're extending this rational dialog to us.

Basically it comes down to this.  This may sound arrogant but this is how we see it.  According to our US Constitution, it is not the role of the Federal government to be doing stuff like that.  The Constitution literally says that the role of the Federal government is to provide the common defense and to promote the general welfare.  Its not supposed to provide the welfare.

I'm answering your questions out of order.  Here's the answer to number 3:

    3. You have put forth some good examples.  What is supposed to happen with these folks in dire straights?  Well, the people need to step up (not the government).  We need to help each other out.  Americans are VERY GENEROUS people. Look how much money we gave away personally for Katrina victims and for the Tsunami victims in 2004/2005.  In the case of the Tsunami, as private citizens we personally gave away more money than the Federal government itself.

Charities like the Red Cross and other Christian based (and non Christian based) are far better fit to handle this than the Federal government.

    1. Higher taxes breed corruption everywhere.  I'm against taxes.

    2. Concerning abortions, its murder.  That's how we see it.    Abortion should never be an option.  The question should be, how do we help poor people break cycles of keeping their families poor for generation after generation.  For this: I recommend: http://www.crown.org (a non profit charity) and http://www.daveramsey.com (a private sector answer of a guy making money helping people quit being poor.)

The core of us see the real problem.  Its the Federal Reserve.  It is to their benefit that the government keeps borrowing money from them for social programs and whatever else.  The Federal Reserve is a private company that loans money to the Federal government.  The fatter the Federal government gets, the fatter the pockets of the owners of the Federal Reserve.  Notice that neither Democrats nor Republicans talk about the Federal Reserve during campaign season.  They fear the Fed.  And they are empowered by them.

PS.  Sorry, you really made me think.  There's a lot that really bothers me also about the other side.  It comes down to being responsible.  I am a responsible person.  I take care of myself and my family and I'm active in my community.  Concerning taxes and social programs:  It frustrates me to on end that my hard earned money is yanked from me and given to someone who did not work for it nor deserves it.

I have a case study for you.  Me.  In 2004, I was contracting.  Being self employed.  I was a one man shop software consultant.  I did not have maternity insurance on my wife.  (Yes.  Irresponsible.)  We got pregnant.  We looked at all our options to deliver that baby without making us poor.  The Federal government wasn't going to help me because I made $65,000 the year before.

My wife is Hispanic.  She explored every thing.  We found clinics signing up illegals like crazy on medicaid (or medicare - not sure which one.)  We of course would not qualify because of my salary the year before.

We were nervous because the delivery of our first child cost over $20,000.  It was complicated.  Thank God that we had insurance then though.

Our solution was to have the baby in my wife's home country.  Even though we had made our life in the US, we had to outsource the birthing of my daughter to another country.

How ironic was that?  Illegal aliens from latin america are in our country and I am paying for them through my taxes to have children but my government won't pay for me.  Ha!

Anyway, like I said, I'm responsible.  Even though I screwed up and did not have insurance in place, I took matters into my own hands to see what my options were.  My wife and I made a decision and we executed it.

Our daughter was born at a private hospital.  The government of her country did not pay for it.  The hospital charged me about $1000 and the doctor charged me about $1000.  Yes the delivery was complicated like the first one she had.  With God's help, we did it with no government help and it didn't make us poor.
