Agave Kiss went a perfect 5 after her win in the Trevose Stakes
Flying Zee Stables owned 3-year-old filly, Agave Kiss, won for the fifth time in as many starts for trainer Rudy R. Rodriguez, as she completed the fifth win of her career in the Trevose Stakes at Parx Racing over the venue’s dirt course, going over a distance
of 6 furlongs on 17 April, 2012.
The New York bred filly under jockey R. Curatolo defeated the likes of Dance to Bristol in second and Mikey Likes It in third, while she covered the 6 furlong distance in a quick time of 1 minute and 9.66 seconds.
It was a gate to wire victory for, Agave Kiss, in the $75,000 Trevose Stakes, as she picked it up real well from the start, where she got involved in an intense duel with Honey Wondergirl for the first few strides of the race.
As she dispatched herself from the duel, she was then free to carve impressive fractions in the six furlong dash. Agave Kiss covered the opening quarter mile in 22.10 seconds, and for the first half mile marker, Agave Kiss reached the distance in 45.21 seconds.
Ryan Curatolo had a dream trip over Agave Kiss, as the pair raced way off the rail, and once they swung off the bend it gave Dance to Bristol an opportunity to bid for the wire on the inside.
She availed that opportunity fully, as she tucked inside and gave Ryan Curatolo some jitters at the eighth pole, but the heavy favourite, Agave Kiss, found a second wing and gave her all in the stretch to hold off Dance to Bristol in second by 1 ½ length
as Mikey Likes It finished way back in third.
“She made us very proud,” Rodriguez said. “It wasn’t that easy, but she did it right. That was what we were hoping for, to have a good experience her first time out of town.”
The daughter of Lion Heart, out of mare Salty Romance by Salt Lake, Agave Kiss in her juvenile season broke her maiden and turned in an allowance race, but she dominated stakes company as a three-year-old staying undefeated up till now.
