Question:

Age limit for receiving scholarships?

My son is 22 years old. We didn't have any money for him to be able to go to college and even though he made good grades in his senior year in highschool, he had goofed off somewhat before that point.

He has been paying his own way through jr. college and is in his second year with a 3.97 cumulative GPA. Is there any way he can get a scholarship for his Junior and Senior year at a four year college/university?

Oh, we are not a minority and we are U.S. citizens born here. Nor is he disabled in any way.

  1. Scholarships are a great way to help pay for school, because unlike loans, they do not have to be paid back. Keep in mind that it takes time, effort, and often creativity to find and apply for scholarships. They usually do NOT just fall in your lap.

Don't pay anyone to find a scholarship for you. There are enough opportunities out there that are FREE! With initiative you can find out about scholarship programs yourself. Private scholarships are often based on different criteria such as grades, age, gender, race, major, interests and membership in clubs. There are even unusual scholarships for almost everything you can imagine.

There won't be any scholarship and financial aid package for old student. "Old age" students may receive "slow" information. In many schools if one gets lower than 2.0 (about 75% grades) in two semesters, that one may be kicked out ^_^

  2. First, make sure he has applied for federal financial aid by completing the application on line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.  This will allow him to be considered for grants, work programs and low-interest students loans.  Has he checked with the college(s) he is considering attending next year regarding scholarship eligibility?  Many colleges offer transfer scholarships.  Have him contact the financial aid office(s) for information.  Also, check out http://www.finaid.org/scholarships/ for other scholarship suggestions.  Guidelines vary from scholarship to scholarship.  While some may require a certain GPA, another might require majoring in a certain major.  I suggest doing some searching to see what may be out there for him to apply.

  3. best way if you were a reallygood student you can write a letter to the senator of your state or Government officesand request a loan and tell them you really want to be educated in many states they will provide you with feed back and some program will contact you to help you financially in education or you can write a request to the colleg board of education always apply for financial aids college loans and some associations that provide scholarships(might not believ this even mcdonalds provide some scholarships but not sure of age) But your age is fine many people will consider to help you get out there and try your best write requests and contact goverments education offices and have request show yourself  cause in america you can become whateveryou want but you gotta reach the top point and age here doesn't matter 22 yourstill fineto apply most scholarships also athletic if you are any way your welcome I am an financial advisor!
