Question:

Age limits for staying at hotels in Boston/Cape Cod?

I'm planning to go to Boston and Cape Cod [Hyannis and Provincetown] with my friends. We're all 20 years old. For most of the hotels we're interested in, they tell us we have to be 21. Do they really enforce these rules? Would they turn us down if we already booked online with reservations and deposited a night's stay?

  1. most hotels you do have to be 21.

    some enforce, some don't.

if they think you look too young, they'll ask for id.

if you go in there acting immature or they think you're going to just party, they'll probably deny under 21.

with the answer below, even if a hotel chain says its 18 and above, it's up to the owners discression of age.

so not every days inn/motel 6 is 18 and above.

the one i work at is 21 and above.

  2. Most bed and breakfast hotels do require a minimum age of 21 just because at 21, a person is a full adult an capable of signing a contract and understanding the ramifications of it (supposedly).  Also, a 21 year old *supposedly* won't have a wild party and completely trash the room.  In many places, at least 1 person must be 21 years old, and the reservation must be in that person's name.

Motel 6 or Day's Inn only require you to be 18 to check in. I don't think they will kick you out if you have already put down a deposit for one night, but they are not necessarily obligated to honor any stay longer than that single night.  Consider looking into youth hostels rather than regular hotels as well.
