I would think you'd have to be older to work with the adults. I applied to the county jail to be a correctional officer and am having an interview scheduled soon. I also took a swing by the Juvenile and they told me i couldnt apply until i was 21. Why is this? btw i live in Tx.

  1. Because they have to make sure you are mature enough to control children?  Or maybe they do that so no 18 year old who just may not have matured enough yet would pass pot to another inmate.

  2. good laws, there made to protect you from the not so good human race.

  3. Because juveniles are approaching 18, they tend not to respect people close in age. It's just a matter of mentality. If an adult sees you in jail with the uniform... they know not to mess with you, but juveniles tend to like to push buttons and see how far they can take it before they get in trouble.

  4. Generally they need a larger age gap between the kids/teens in the junevile facility and the adults that work with them to keep the kids in line.
