Age of the cockatiel?

He has just started flapping his wings. Can I get to know his age?

  1. If the cockatiel has just started flapping and you have had the bird since birth, then it could be around 4-5 weeks of age. If the cockatiel was bought at a pet store, then it's probably around 8 weeks old.


  2. You can't tell the age of a bird just by it flapping its wings. Find out from the person you get the bird from if they know how old it was before you got it. I have raised hundreds of Cockatiels over the past 30 years and there is no way by looking at the bird and saying for sure how old it is, even a DNA blood test can't tell you that. Your best source is from where ever you got it from

  3. Where did you get him? Ask the person or place where you got him, they should know. But I'd say he's probly under 3 mos. if he's just starting. but thats just a rough estimate.
