Basic human nature, born good or born evil?

Where does the evil come from if we are born good, and where does good come from if we are born evil

Both must exist because one cannot exist without its opposite

  1. I don't like to think in terms of good or evil.  It's all so subjective.  I wish people would think outside the box more often.

For example, who says all human beings are born the same way?  If good and evil exist, couldn't some be good and some be evil?

And why should it be a binary answer?  Is it not possible for a person to have some good and some evil, neither aspect completely dominating over the other, neither aspect coming first?

Why are "good" and "evil" the way we choose to classify humans?  Why not "creative" or "destructive"?  Why not "self-absorbed" and "selfless"?

And who says good and evil are opposites?  Couldn't they be two levels on one side of the spectrum?

  2. Born neutral.  We become good or we become evil.  A child cannot be evil or good they simply exist.

  3. I believe it is how you are raised. You are not born one way or another. Yes genetics do have an effect on your way of thinking so some people are more prone to being good or bad, but I believe it is more how you are brought up. I also believe that everyone has good in them, or did at one point. No one is mean just for the heck of it, there is usually a reason behind their actions. Otherwise the person has a mental impairment that causes them to be mean or evil as you put it.

  4. Born neutral. Everything is subjective.

  5. Is it an age old question because it's an enigma and can not be answered or because it's merely just confusing?

born both and born neither. we're born more neutral. how can the act of being born make a person good or evil? it can only contribute to the good and evil events that will happen in the future. I believe that no person is ever good and evil ever, and that there are only good and evil actions and consequences of events that come from people. Furthermore, i believe all people have good intentions underneath their bad intents, and that only how they bring about those intents that then make them become good and evil.

difference, clinging, separation are factors that cause good and evil

    we cling to forms

    we cling to feelings

    we cling to perception

    we cling to fabrications

    we cling to consciousness

The nature of matter is to be separated from itself. We live in a bubble with adversities and obstacles. That separation also allows inharmonious interaction--smashing, hitting, hurting, tiredness, anxiety. Think sound and music vs images and forms. Think of animals, creatures, humans observing and moving towards and away.

  6. ...born innocent...good, evil and otherwise are learned traits when one begins their learning/growing process...good luck...

  7. Human nature is not set in stones and it varies between the individuals.  To say it is one thing and not the other is a grotesque generalization and an overt trivialization for everyone.

  8. I think and believe that human nature is born good and evil both. There are two jackals fighting inside us, one of evil and the other of good, which of them wins? it depends upon us whom we feed. This war inside us is by nature but the nature has given us power to feed the jackal we want with our deeds and works. If we do something good we feed the good jackal but if we do some thing wrong we feed the evil jackal and it wins.

So it depends upon us what we chose. We are what we chose.
