Question:

Age restriction on TOY gun sales?

I just took my 2 year old to buy a water pistol, gave him the money to get it while i stood with and we were told that there was an age restriction on the item!

It's a chunky, silly, bright coloured toy gun and kids cant buy it. To purchase it a customer has to be 18 + years old!

Is this the world going mad?

(ps - it was bought from a major high street store that rhymes with Shmoolworths)

  1. I think it is absolutely ridiculous. Whoever sets this restrictions surely lack common sense!

  2. Yes. For example as it is written (Violent  Crime) bans the sale of any imitation gun, (toy gun) to any person below the age of 18.

  3. All part of political correctness I'm afraid. When i was a kiddie my big brother and i used to charge about with toy guns, we would play cowboys and Indians, and fight against space monsters with laser guns, we would also play cops and robbers! Great fun, did either of us use the "guns" to try and stage a hold up at the local post office? Duh, of course not! Neither did we grow up to be violent, sad sad world isn't it?

  4. If children are not able to buy them then they should not be made for children and marketed at them, that is ridiculous.

  5. OK, I'll probably get booed off the stage now, but none of my children were allowed any toys which imitated weapons when they were young, and they managed to get by without them. Such toys were also forbidden in the nursery they attended.

As for the plastic water pistol ...I wonder how many 18 + year olds play with them.

  6. That's ridiculous!!

What do they think he's going to do with it?!

  7. Aww, that is ridiculous,  show me a little boy who doesn't want a toy gun.  Impossible, they all love them.

The present trend in gun crime is not because of toy guns, it's because of bad parenting, criminalisation of youngsters who have the wrong kind of friends. escalating violence, and many other factors the people more expert than I am could tell you.

But never, never because a little two year old wanted to play with a plastic, coloured water pistol.

  8. Buy a airsoft gun for him insted then.

    POW POW.

    They're fun.

Well, I guess it's true. Apparently, all under 18's are now hooligans and it must have been obvious your son was going to commit an armed robbery.

(Sch)Woolworths are a bunch of ****. I used to work there and quit it for that very reason.

  9. aha.

    what'd be even madder?

if you didn't mean to forget the number 1, and you actually let your 2 year old buy from Shmoolworths. :)

and its not like your kid was asking for a pack of cigarettes. im 13 years old, and I was refused a lamp i tried to buy from Q&V. apparently, it could get very hot, and burn me.

    load of rubbish.

    yeah, the worlds going mad.

  10. no not like that people from age3 are using this type of toys
