My kid will be 5 this Oct. She cannot go to KG. If we give her home schooling or private schooling for 2 yrs - KG and Grade 1, can she go to grade 2 after that. Are there any restrictions of age for grade 2 in MA state?

  1. no there isnt just as long as they pass the placement test

  2. The state public schools will generally put the child in the class according to his age and not according to his education level. There are exceptions where they test the child and make a final decision, but ultimately it is up to them.

Most private schooling follows the same guidelines as the public school because there are circumstances where the child will have to go back into public.

Why not enroll her into pre-k or just homeschool her?

  3. I don't see why not. They may have to do some testing on her, but as long as she's up to the reading level and not too far behind in math I don't see why not.

  4. there might be a restriction but why rush.

my brother had this same problem his birthday is in December so he went to a pre-school.

hey just wondering what part of MA are you from im from springfield
