I am 18 and so is my girlfriend, my mom was thinking about sending us to the bahama's on a cruise because graduating with honors, I was wondering could me and my 18 year old girlfriend go by ourselves or do we need someone over 21 to go with us?

  1. I like how you include the "with honors" tidbit.

In light of your academic prowess you should be able to go on a cruise by yourself without much of a problem.

  2. Major cruise lines (Carnival, NCL, etc.) except Princess and Holland America have age restrictions that require a passengers under the age of 21 must have a parent or legal guardian over the age of 25 accompanying them within the same cabin.

Meaning, if you and your girlfriend are 18, you have to have a parent or someone over the age of 25 registered within the same cabin as both of you. Your parents can't just register you or tell the cruise line it's okay or even go on the cruise but stay in a separate cabin. They actually have to be a guest within the same cabin as you and your girlfriend on the ship.

On that same note, you can't have just someone over the age of 21 go with you either. "Someone" has to be 25 or over and be in the same cabin with you two also.

The exception is that if you are under 21 and married, you must have proof of marriage (a document, ie. copy of marriage license) to show them when checking in at embarkment.

So simply put to answer your question; no, not by yourselves, but also yes if you raise the "someone 21" to someone 25 but in your cabin with you.

PS: Carnival is a very strict on the age requirement even though they are the best cruise for younger cruisers.

  3. Go but don't go off alone on the islands good way to find real trouble.

  4. I believe you need to travel with someone at least the age of 21.

  5. I should think  that you really need an adult to be there with you both,I mean its your first cruise and you will be by yourselves and you never know what lies ahead, its better to be safe than sorry. If you want a great cruise ship to take, take a carnival cruise lines ship,a lot of young people use that cruise line and theres always something to do on  board 24/7. congratulations on high honors, thats great!     Rubberstampr

  6. NCL, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Costa, Carnival all require you to be 21 or older or there are some stipulations that either require an adult over 21 with you to you getting married and supplying proof.

Princess and Holland America will take you at 18.

  7. Congrats!

It depends on the cruise line. I know that on Carnival you have to be 21 and older, but Princess you can be 18. Try www.vacationtogo.com and then go to cruise ship info and then to a ship for a cruise line and it will tell you the age. Hopefully there is a cruise that has the age 18 that goes to the Bahamas!

    Happy Cruising!

  8. yes and  have  a good  time  do not  trust  people you  meet  over  there  and  have  your  us  passport  with  you

  9. Call the cruiseline and see if you are age eligible to be in a cabin alone. I have heard that you normally have to be 25years old to be on a cruise but most hotels allow 18year olds to stay so double check with the cruiseline.

  10. Luckily whenever you get into international water you are able to go into the casino, but you are still not allowed to drink. Once you get to whatever country you are going to, you will be able to drink. I would check with whatever cruise line you are going to use, just to make sure.

  11. I'm getting ready for my second cruise. My wife has been on six others. I believe she said you must be "23" to rent a room, or at least have someone that age in the room when registering.

If that's the case, perhaps you and your mom can register one room, your g/f and her mom register another room, then once you get there swap rooms so the moms are in one and you girls are in another.
