Agent B. B. Abbott confident of Brian McCann’s entry in 2013 season for Atlanta Braves-MLB Update
Catcher Brian McCann went through surgery the other day to fix a torn labrum. According to the reports, he will be undergoing a rigorous rehabilitation process before he can begin playing baseball.
In the first place, it was believed that surgery will endanger his expedition in the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season. However, sources claim that he will take four months and from there onward he can participate in playing activities.
In-short, he has been given the assurance that he can join the Braves in the upcoming season.
McCann’s agent B. B. Abbott is convinced that the catcher will be ready prior to the beginning of the season.
The question now is more about whether the Braves utilise their option on McCann for 2013. They will be required to make an announcement in this regard as soon as the completion of the World Series.
McCann is h**l-bent to improve his offensive numbers after he struggled in the recently concluded season due to a problem in his shoulder.
Troubled by the injury, he could not support the Braves’ offence the way he was supposed to in the second half of the regular season. Due to his poor form, the Braves had to bring David Ross as a replacement.
As far as the option for 2013 on McCann is concerned, there has not been any declaration yet.
When the retirement of Chipper Jones is taken into account, it can be concluded that they will probably retain McCann, to whom many consider as the appropriate successor of their Future Hall of Fame third baseman.
Abbott has talked of McCann about his satisfaction regarding the optimism of the doctor on his health.
"Brian is extremely encouraged with the information he received from Dr. Duralde," Abbott said. "His prognosis is for a full and complete recovery and he is excited to be completely healthy for the 2013 season."
McCann will be looking to unleash his best in the upcoming season. After witnessing a decline in his batting average, he needs consistent shows at the plate.
Fans will be excited as McCann prepares in the offseason and makes his way toward restoring his reputation as a quality slugger for the Braves.
