Agent: Miami Heat’s Big Three waiting for overseas offers - NBA Update
Miami Heat’s Big Three trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are open to a move abroad and are waiting on a reasonable contract offer. This was revealed by Henry Thomas, an agent who is part of the firm which represents
Miami’s triple ripple.
During the interview the agent was mostly non-committal and stopped short of saying that any of the players mentioned were currently locked in negotiations with a foreign team.
However he did make clear that if or when the offers arrive, he would have to consider them.
"If there are opportunities presented to my guys," Thomas said, "it's my responsibility then to look at those opportunities and see what they are."
Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade are the two stars reported to be interested in playing abroad during the NBA lockout. The lockout situation is getting worse with each passing day and it hit a new low when the NBA filed a lawsuit against
the players union, the National Basketball Players Association.
For its part, the NBPA has been encouraging its members to seek employment opportunities elsewhere as they expect the lockout to drag on for quite a while. So much so that the executive director of the NBPA, Billy Hunter, recently
declared that he did not expect there to be an NBA season for 2011-2012.
Bosh and Wade seemed to have heeded the advice of the NBPA and various sources have confirmed that the pair is looking at opportunities to play in Europe or maybe China. Dwyane Wade made his intentions public just recently regarding
a move.
Wade was of the view that it does not make sense to him not to play the game he so loved.
"I'm going to play basketball this year. I don't know where, but I love the game so much that I will play it. And we will figure that out." The former NBA Finals MVP said.
However, the one man in the Big Three, who not interested in playing overseas, is LeBron James. The former Cleveland Cavaliers forward has consistently maintained that he doesn’t fancy leaving the United States. He recently expressed
hope that the NBA lockout would end soon and the two sides would come to a resolution in time for the NBA season of 2011-2012 to be saved.
The Miami super star believes that he would be better off training and improving his game over here, rather than playing abroad. LeBron has had training sessions with retired NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon as he tries to improve his
post game this offseason.
So as far as LeBron James is concerned, it is difficult to gather where Henry Thomas is coming from.
