  1. Though it is possible, it is important to keep working on your resume and to make sure you have a great headshot that shows your personality, does not have a distracting background or one that blends in with your hair, and that is about 70-80% head/face.

Take acting classes ... especially on-camera classes!!!! They look for training, also.

Thank them (agents) for any time they spend with you.

Do NOT sign with an agent that wants more money then 10% per project you work and are paid for. A montly fee is not acceptable, and is not the mark of a quality agent. They should never require a fee upfront!!! If so, run!!!

Do NOT sign with an agent that is not SAG affiliated.

When you meet with an agent, smile, relax, LISTEN, and look (do not stare) them in the eye.

Have a comedic and dramatic monologue ready at all times. And, know the roles of them more than the words. Delve into the role! Let it come of you and your experiences, but know the role. Feel it.

    Keep auditioning.

    Network! Network! Network!

  2. While many may disagree with me, I see hundreds of AGENT questions here, mostly from young people.

Bluntly, honestly, an "agent" is likely someone to consider AFTER you no longer NEED one.

One answer states they won't do much with a person who won't do much for them. An even colder fact is that they may want upfront money, and your "credentials" whatever they may be, can sit on a stack of clients papers, forever.

"No worries Honey, I'll get back to ya asap."

The suggestion regarding SAG affiliated, assumes too much for one thing, especially in your case, and relates to Film. It may be suggested at some point that you obtain a SAG membership, if that's the direction you want to take, but my suggestion is get a whole lot more experience in your portfolio, before you consider being one of the top 5 Film actresses.

No offense, but where you live, most especially so defined in your Q, is irrelevant. If you want work, gain the skills, knowledge, and hundreds of hours of audition time, you'll likely NOT find much work where you are. At 16 hopefully you have 100 years to explore every path you want to take.

Certainly determination should be near the top of the list, but so should WORKING at the craft, even for no accolades, walk on, non speaking parts, exposure, experience, building a resume. It can't hurt to have head shots, but at this point, I hardly see them as a benefit.

I am constantly amazed by the hundreds of young people who ask similar questions here. I wish you all good, but you need a few more experiences in your folder, before you let the "stars" in your eyes blind you.

Latest stats on actors and $$$. An average income for an actor in the USA is just under $48 K. Certainly for a 16 year old, that might fill a few shoe closets, but it isn't obtained from falling out of the sky.

    Just my 2 "scents"

  3. Agents choose who they would like to represent by looking at who would make the agency the most money. They don't want anyone who wouldn't get any work. So it doesn't matter as much how many plays you've done. If they can see that you are serious about acting and you're not just a kid who wants to be the next Hannah Montana, then you will have a good chance at getting an agent. Try maybe getting both a local agent to help with opportunities around your town, as well as a LEGITIMATE agent in Los Angeles to give you global opportunities. Best of luck my fellow actor!
