Agent of Maarten Stekelenburg confident his client will move to Roma in few days: Serie A news
The agent of Ajax goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998, is hopeful that his client will sign for A.S Roma in the next few days.
Stekelenburg has been linked with the Italian outfit for the past few weeks but the two clubs could not reach an agreement over the transfer fee. The Giallorossi are definitely in the transfer market for a new custodian, to replace Alexander http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 this summer.
Reports in the Italian media claimed that the two clubs have agreed on a 6-million-Euros fee and the agent has confirmed that the deal is close. The agent, Rob Jansen, confirmed that the transfer is almost a done deal after the Giallorossi came up with an improved offer.
Talking to the reporters Jansen said, "I am left with a very good feeling after the past couple of days. It's clear that Roma are willing to go far to sign Maarten ahead of the new season. Ajax's vision on certain points was understandable to be honest.
“Roma had to think about Ajax's demands for a while and they've now made an improved offer. I hope and expect that the new bid offers Ajax the guarantees they were after. It will be a big relief for Maarten once the transfer is a done deal. It's never easy for a player when you don't know what's going to happen.”
Stekelenburg has only one year left on his current contract with the Amsterdam based side and they are looking to cash in on him rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Roma currently have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and a deal looked close at one point but the Cameroonian shot-stopper failed to agree personal terms.
The agent is desperate to bring an end to a long running saga and wants a deal to be finalized in the next few days.
