Agent reveals Michael Ballack’s possible departure to Major League Soccer - Bundesliga News
With the former German international, Michael Ballack, heading towards the end of his Bayer Leverkusen career, the player’s agent, Michael Becker, recently revealed his possible departure to Major League Soccer during the summer.
Ballack is into his last season at BayArena and could possibly move to the U.S if not handed a renewed contract. Different clubs from Middle East and Asia have already come up with official offers for the veteran. Interest from England is also evident with
Sunderland and Newcastle United hinting to his caputre next summer.
The agent told that no Major League Soccer clubs have shown interest in the midfielder as yet, but an offer from LA Galaxy is expected in the near future as Los Galacticos seek a replacement for the former England international, David Beckham.
Beckham recently ran out of his five-year contract with the Galaxy and their head coach, Bruce Arena, sees Ballack as perfect replacement for the legendary English player.
While talking to Goal.com, the agent revealed:
"Aside from moments like [Kevin-Prince] Boateng's tackle [during the 2010 FA Cup final], those are accidents not the chronic injuries that you would expect [of players of his age]. I think in a way, that will provide him some longevity as he has spent some
time off the field and paid close attention to his physical health."
Ballack has been in supreme touch this season and has played major part in Leverkusen’s progress through to the next round of the Champions League.
When asked about his desire, the former Chelsea player told that he would love to extend his contract with the BayArena outfit else he would prefer playing in the MLS.
He ruled out the possibility of a Premier League move as he has already represented Chelsea for four years and would try something new at the back end of his career.
Ballack has made 10 league appearances this term, bagging two goals during the process and will next be in action on Friday, December 2, against Hoffenheim.
