Agent says Loic Remy dreams of the Premier League
Frederic Guerra, the agent of French striker Loic Remy, has said the players still dreams of playing in the Premier League, despite opting to sign for Olympique de Marseille this summer.
The former Nice player could have moved to England ahead of the current season, as Liverpool, Tottenham, Stoke City and West Ham United all showed their interest in signing him.
Stoke and West Ham are thought to have made offers that Nice were prepared to accept, but the player chose not to join either club. Instead, Remy settled for a move to Marseille, where he is coached by French veteran Didier Deschamps.
"Remy still has a dream to play in England and I am certain he will be a very good player in English football. He had many options in England in the summer—there were four or five clubs who wanted him—but he was happy to sign for Marseille," said Guerra,
who added that the decision to stay in France was made in the interest of his long-term development as a player. "I think he had to make a decision for his whole career and that means staying in France for another year or two years."
Playing style reminiscent of Henry
Remy scored his first international goal in France's Euro 2012 qualifier against Romania earlier this month, sprinting ahead of the defence and finishing distinctly in the far corner.
The striker's pace, creativity and eye for goal has led many to compare him to Thierry Henry, the former Arsenal and Barcelona striker whose speed got the better of many English defenders during his time in London.
"Every time I watch him he reminds me of Thierry Henry, he has excellent characteristics. He is quick, skilful and he can score many goals. He can be a huge success in the Premier League. When he next has a transfer I think he will go to a top club on a
high level—that it was we hope for."
