The Danish International remained the subject of a probable move to Manchester City recently. Speaking of all the transfer talks related to him on the media, the 27-year old let out his admiration for the Catalan outfit, and confessed that if approached by them, he will seriously contemplate decamping from Anfield.
While talking to reporters, he said: “Barcelona would be great. They are the one team who would make it difficult for me to stay.”
Nonetheless, the defender insisted that he was honoured to be a part of the Anfield family, and that feeling had further strengthened in him with the passage of time. He was also in awe for the professional attitude of the management and unwavering support
of the fans.
Liverpool are currently going through a transition period under new manager, Rodgers, following their toilsome last campaign. With the admission of a couple of new signings coupled with the implementation of the Northern Irishman’s Barcelona-like playing
philosophy, the Reds are in for major changes this coming season. For good or bad, that is yet to be seen.
However, Agger was optimistic about his team’s chances of reclaiming their status of being one of the big boys in Europe. Citing their illustrious past, which saw them lift the English league title 18 times, the Danish footballer felt that great things were
just around the corner for them, and claimed that he has always had a special feeling towards the club.
“Everyone knows about the '80s team, and how they were winning titles every year, and I have a feeling we are not too far off doing the same,” he added.
