The Danish International came on as a substitute in the second half against Aston Villa on Saturday. It was his first appearance for the Reds since their Carling Cup triumph against Cardiff City in February.
During his absence, the Reds witnessed one of their worst Premier League runs in almost sixty years, losing five of their last seven league games before their match against Aston Villa. The Merseyside team bagged a late equalizer against Villa and by doing
so, ended their three match losing streak.
However, the Danish footballer rejected the opinion that the Reds obsession of winning the FA Cup led to their abject capitulation in the league.
"I don't think next weekend's game is in our heads now. When you play for a club like this it doesn't matter if there is a trophy or not, there is always a lot to play for.” He said while talking to reporters.
When asked of the reason behind his team’s dismal performance in the last couple of games, he responded by confessing that the Reds have not been playing their best football and needed to change the situation at Anfield as quickly as possible.
"It is a bit of everything; we are not playing well, we are not working the right way but we are trying everything we can and hopefully it will turn soon."
The 27 year old was also pleased to be back in the squad, after missing out on action for almost two months. He revealed that he still needed time to make a full recovery, but was happy to be back on the field.
"It is always nice to be out there. It doesn't matter what sort of run [the team is on], it is always difficult watching from the sidelines," he added.
When talking about the match against Villa at Anfield, which ended in a 1-1 draw, he claimed that the result could have been much different, had his team capitalized on some of the opportunities they got during the game. He also praised Villa for playing
some decent football.
