Liverpool defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884, believes that Brendan Rodgers playing philosophy best suited the Reds, and it was only a matter of time before the team get their EPL campaign back on track.
The Anfield outfit notched up an impressive 2-1 win against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday, granting the Northern Irishman his first domestic win as Liverpool manager.
So far, it has been a difficult first four months at the office for the 39-year old, who has seen his side drop down to the relegation zone after the first five games.
The Reds have played out 2 draws and suffered three defeats – including two at Anfield – this term.
It is the club’s worst start to a season in almost a century.
Despite their pitiful stats, the Danish International insisted that his team were headed in the right direction.
He spoke out in favour of the playing style that his manager was trying to introduce at Anfield, as he felt that it was the best way of playing football for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
“I also think it’s the right way for Liverpool Football Club – it’s the style of football Liverpool should play,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“Of course the most important thing is to get the results but if you can do that and at the same time play with a good style of football, good possession and aggression, that’s a bonus.”
Liverpool’s dismal start also owes much to the fact that they have gone against the top three teams of the previous season in their first five games.
However, Agger feels that the team showed plenty of promise in their previous fixture against Manchester United, but admitted that they need to learn how to close out the games.
“It has been difficult but we knew that before we started... We dominated the fixture last weekend but at the end of the day we need to start collecting some points... I do feel confident that we are getting there,” he added.
Agger, who picked up an injury during the game against the United last Sunday, is doubtful for the Reds trip to Carrow Road this Saturday.
