http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884, has insisted that his side are improving under Brendan Rodgers and had no qualms that they will soon reclaim their position in the Champions League.
The Merseyside outfit finished at a dismal eighth place in the prevenient term, forcing the club’s owners to relieve Kenny Dalglish of his managerial duties.
Rodgers was handed over the Anfield throne in June and was tasked with reviving the gloomy state of affairs at the club.
However, not much has gone the Ulsterman’s way in terms of results. Despite seeing his team put up a couple of commanding displays, they still find themselves in the worse half of the table after 15 matches. They currently lag behind fourth-placed Tottenham
Hotspur by 7 points and 17 behind league leaders, Manchester United.
Nonetheless, Agger, who netted the solitary goal in his side’s 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday, claimed that the Reds had shown marked improvement under Rodgers’ management.
The 27-year old explained that the team were playing with more confidence and fluency than they were 12 months ago and was confident that they will only improve further as the season progresses.
Liverpool have only suffered a single defeat in their last 10 league matches.
“The last couple of games we've played really well,” the defender told the reporters in an interview.
“Confidence is a big thing here and I think we have it. We are brave on the ball, want to go forward and we are not just playing around and I think that is the difference.”
“I think we are creating more chances than last season. I don't see the statistics but the feeling on the pitch is we are creating bigger chances. It is difficult to compare two seasons but it is feeling better now.”
The Anfield side have collected 19 points from their 15 games thus far. During this period, they won 4 and lost as many matches and played out 7 draws.
At the same juncture last season, the team were sixth in the table, having bagged 7 wins and 5 draws and were just 3 points adrift of the Champions League slot.
