Liverpool defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884, has signed a new long term with the Merseyside outfit.
The Danish International emerged in multiple rumours during the summer transfer window, linking his move away from Anfield.
Most profound of all was one relating him to Manchester City.
The English champions reportedly made a 20 million pounds bid for the 27-year old. However, the boss at Anfield, Brendan Rodgers, turned down the offer, as he put the defender’s worth to be in the proximity of 25 million pounds.
City went on to sign Matija Nastasic instead.
With some speculations also linking him to a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
While talking to the media after signing the new agreement, Agger let out his delight on being given the opportunity to represent the Reds for more years.
He said that he never planned on parting ways with Liverpool, despite emerging in multiple rumours, and wants to play an important role in Brendan Rodgers’ new model.
“It means everything to me. This is where I want to be and I'm happy the club want me. I am really happy right now. I've never wanted to go anywhere else,” he said.
“I feel I am a part of this club - and I want to be a part of this club in the future.”
Liverpool are looking to play with a specific philosophy this term. Rodgers is working on developing the ‘tiki-taka’ style at the club, which involves the team playing with short and quick passes and trying to keep as much possession on the ball as they
can.
The model was welcomed by the Danish footballer, who believes it was the best way for Liverpool to play their football.
He further stated that the Reds will soon be able to arrest their poor form, and it was only a matter of time before the manager’s playing ethos start bearing fruits.
“I like the way it is going right now with the style we're playing, and hopefully the results will come soon as well,” he added.
