Aghaburren Messi to show fighting spirit in Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Standard at Nottingham
There are several high-profile runners in Monday’s Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Standard at Nottingham, but Aghaburren Messi, who is not enjoying the best of odds, is unlikely to be an easy nut to crack. Although at lower levels, the black dog has shown great
progress lately.
After sealing a comfortable victory in the Grade HC, he continued the good work, and got the job done at the A4 level. Having performed magnificently a few times, the son of Royal Impact was full of momentum when he stepped up to the open class last time.
In a 500 metres contest, he showed good rhythm, and captured the runner-up place. A. Grewcock’s charge collected admiration by displaying a good show outside home. He gained disputed lead in the beginning, but unfortunately could not stay ahead throughout.
As a result, he missed the victory by one and a half lengths.
Winning three of the previous four races is enough to prove his fine form. He needs to continue in the same fashion to make an impact at this level. Even if the 2-year-old fails to dominate the proceedings, he will surely show great fighting spirit.
Other contenders are: Questoe Per Te, Jamestown Prince, Ringtown Ben, Pistol Jack, and Romeo Ace. The event is due to start at 22:07 GMT. The competition is for a handy prize of 150 pounds.
Questoe Per Te is heading the betting market following a good run here last week, when finishing second to Coolavanny Turbo. The draw is a massive plus for the black b***h. T. Munslow’s charge is likely to play a big role.
Romeo Ace is not a consistent hound. After doing well in the trials, the black dog could not find the right rhythm, and finished fourth last time around. A clear passage could enhance his prospects though.
Ringtown Ben’s current form is patchy. On his previous run at this level, the fawn dog was fifth on the table. Similar is the situation with Jamestown Prince, who requires an element of luck to taste success after finishing third the last twice. Pistol Jack
will be in a position to go for the first place, only if an inside crowding takes place.
