Aghaburren Tom confident about the Galtymore Lad Puppy Trophy
The most promising entry for the Galtymore Lad Puppy Trophy is the two-year-old blue dog, Aghaburren Tom. The race will be held over 485 metres flat at Coventry on Sunday, 5th August. The prize money up for grabs is £200 and taking up the challenge for it are Woodys Alabama, Caribbean Batman, Westmead Meteor, Gemstone Jack and Holdem Maldini.
The lightly raced hound started racing just this season and has failed miserably just once. He has predominantly raced at Nottingham but does have some experience at Coventry too. However, he was more successful at the prior race course. The A. Grewcock trained has raced at different distances and has never portrayed that as an obstacle to finishing decently in a race.
Collision’s son struck a hat trick right through the first three outings of the career, the last two legs at Nottingham.
On 25th June, 2012, the two-year-old out of, Aghaburren Amie, won over a 500 metres race at Nottingham. He raced on after breaking from the third trap and did not compromise on the lead timing the track distance in 31.00 seconds. He led by ¾ of a length and set, Ballymac Boy, as the runner-up.
The victory was the second time he raced after getting drilled over 305 metres at Nottingham on 11th June, 2012.
Aghaburren Tom then settled second in the race that followed the hat-trick and once again got back to the winning composure that he displayed at the beginning of the career.
The sixth position in the Tom Friut Puppy Trophy –Division A on 22nd July, 2012 at Coventry over 485 metres lost all the hope that there was for the second hat-trick of the career. The race was won by Watch Kitty who settled the distance in 29.44 seconds while Aghaburren Tom ended sixth after racing for 30.72 seconds.
His most recent success story was in the Keeper Tom Puppy Trophy – Division B on 29th July, 2012 at Coventry over 485 metres. His early pace and tactful lead got him the race in 29.73 seconds.
The chances of the two-year-old for claiming the race tonight are 5 to 2. Keeping a firm grip on the form will make being the first one through the wire easier for him.
