The Bianconeri President has revealed that the Old Lady have chosen to take the gold stars off their new jersey to get rid of the controversy regarding their true title count.
Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has revealed the reason behind Juventus’s decision to have no stars on their new kit for the upcoming season, which was unveiled by the club on Wednesday.
The star is an old tradition in Italian football, and teams put one http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Golden-Star-c39439 on their jersey to represent ten Serie A titles that they have won.
The Bianconeri were expected to add another star to their shirt along with the two that were already there, but the club has decided to take away the symbols altogether.
Agnelli stressed that the Juventus fans believe their total number of Serie A title to be 30, and stressed that every true follower will continue to believe that.
The Bianconeri President stated that he is aware that the Italian Football Federation’s calculations stand at 28 titles, but maintained that the Old Lady and their fans do not endorse any such calculation.
While talking to the press, the Juventus patron said:
“We count our success and it equals 30. Then we look at the calculations of the Federation and we realise that it comes to 28. As we don’t agree, we chose to take the stars away because we don’t recognise such arithmetic.”
The discord is all about the Bianconeri's Scudetti that they won in 2005 and 2006, but were later stripped off due to their alleged involvement in match-fixing, that also saw them relegated to Serie B.
The three gold stars have been replaced by the words ’30 sul campo’ under the badge, that when translated to English become ‘30 won on the pitch’.
Agnelli went on to reiterate that the true Juventus enthusiasts will continue to count their titles as 30, and expressed his resentment over the Italian Association’s lack of action despite the fact that new information has been made available on the issue.
“All the true Juventini feel like we have won 30. We have always accepted the decisions of the sporting justice system, but new facts have since emerged.” He added.
