Agnieszka Radwanska: It's just about trying to mix it up – Tennis News
World number four, Agnieszka Radwanska, won the final Sony Ericsson Open in her maiden final appearance. She deprived the second seed Russian, Maria Sharapova, of her first Miami title who was playing the final of the tournament
for the fourth time in her career.
In an interview, Radwanska stated, “It's a great feeling to win a tournament like this here in Miami. It's the biggest tournament after grand slams, especially with all the top players here. You have to play six very good matches
to win this tournament. So I'm just extremely happy.”
The major advantage for the Pole tennis icon is her variety of shot collection. She can play all kinds of shots and her ‘tweener’ against the French tennis ace, Marion Bartoli, in the semi-final was the example of that. She forced
Sharapova to commit 45 unforced errors usually due to the pressure of her supreme power play and diversity of shots.
"I think my tennis; it's just about trying to mix it up. I think I was born with that. So it's never been one shot or one thing. When we practice, we practice everything. That's what we were doing all my life pretty much," she
said.
She is definitely mixing it up very well; losing not a single set throughout a major tournament in the Women Tennis Association is a massive achievement. She has all kinds of shots under her belt that can tease any player in the
world. It is not the collection of stokes but the improvisation and execution of them makes it much more difficult for her opponents to counter.
Radwanska is just 23-year-old and has already shown her class at all levels. She has grabbed nine WTA titles in her career to date but hasn’t had her hands on a Grand Slam trophy. She is probably going to be one of the strongest
contenders for the clay court Grand Slam title at the French Open.
The Krakow resident has incurred a back injury a day after her triumph in Miami that forced her to pull out of the Family Circle Cup. She was the top seed player of the tournament; had a supreme opportunity to grab her third title
of the year. The Pole fans are praying for her fast recovery so they can see their proud champion winning more titles in the coming days.
It has been a very successful season for the Pole so far.
