Agnieszka Radwanska comments on her likes and dislikes – Tennis News
World number three, Agnieszka Radwanska, is looking to break the shackles in the upcoming Roland Garros French Open and cruise her way to her maiden Grand Slam title. She was the juniors champion the French Open in 2006 and seeks
inspiration from that to repeat the heroics at the professional platform.
Talking about her clay campaign to the media reports of the sky sports, she stated, “Well, clay, it's not really my favourite surface but I've had some good results on the surface. I just hope I can do better than last year (fourth
round at Roland Garros). If it suits me or not depends also on who is standing on the other side of the net, but I'm trying my best and I'm just happy that this year I've been able to play a couple of good matches (on clay).”
She is also one of the haters of the blue clay court that snatched the title away from the world number two, Rafael Nadal, and deprived world number one, Victoria Azarenka, to repeat the last year heroics as well. She stated that
it wasn’t about the colour of the courts but the surface. It was so slippery that she couldn’t find her footing at all and lost in the semi-final to the reigning number one. However, she is glad that she will be contesting on the red dirt again from Monday.
Radwanska was questioned about her choice of either holding a Grand Slam title or the Olympics Gold. In a reply to that, she stated, “I think you can't really compare those two things. They are two separate things. I can't answer
that. It's like winning a Grand Slam or being number one.” There is no doubt that players would like to hold on to that gold medal more than anything because it comes once in four years whereas the players have an opportunity to the grab the Slam title on
four different occurrences in a year.
Pole number one likes to play on grass so the upcoming grass court season will extract the best out of her. She is already the number three player in the world and a classic grass court season can fulfil her career long dream of
reaching the number one spot in the world. It might not be as easy especially with Azarenka and Maria Sharapova around there but it’s definitely achieveable.
