Agnieszka Radwanska crushes Jamie Hampton in the opening round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix
World number 14 Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland, blew away the American qualifier, Jamie Hampton in the first round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, played at the Porsche Tennis Arena in Stuttgart, Germany on Tuesday. She wrapped
up her straight sets victory 6-0, 6-1, in merely fifty minutes to advance to the second round of the $721,000 WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) tournament.
22-year-old Radwanska faced absolutely no difficulty in overcoming the bleak American opponent. The Pole appeared unplayable throughout the matchup and registered her 12th win of the running WTA season with the utmost
ease. Her mighty forehand worked to perfection, earning her plenty of winners by breaching the weak defences of the opponent on regularity.
Ranked at number 118 in the world, Hampton proved a total mismatch for Radwanska, who clinched 52 of the total 74 points being played in the game. The American failed to register any serve break in the contest and dropped her serve
five out of six times to remain on the losing side at the end. She couldn’t hold serve in any of the games in the opener and win just one of the 13 total games in the match.
The dominant Pole served with 63 per cent precision and clinched 29 of 38 total serve points in the game. Radwanska was good by the same token with her return game, as she bagged 23 of 36 return points en route to victory. Hampton
had no answered to the aggressive moves of her superior opponent and had to submit the game in less than an hour to end her voyage at Stuttgart.
Radwanska had a blistering start to the opener, breaking the American’s serve in the very first game to put early pressure upon her. She converted 13 of 19 serve points in the first set and faced no break point from her opponent.
Two double faults from Hampton bestowed the second serve break to Radwanska to race away to an impassable lead of 4-0 in just opening 15 minutes. The opening set eventually fell in the Pole’s bag at 6-0 when a cracking forehand winner went past Hampton’s racquet.
Thing exacerbated for the American in the next set as Radwanska reeled off 16 of 19 serve points. The pole stung two serve breaks to push Hampton to a point of no return, eventually sealing the contest at 6-1 to pass into the second
round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
World number four, Francesca Schiavone of Italy, awaits Radwanska in the second round of the competition. The Italian received a bye into the second round at Stuttgart.
