Agnieszka Radwanska dismounts Jie Zheng in 2nd round – China Open 2011
Eleventh seeded Agnieszka Radwanska denudated wildcard entrant Jie Zheng in the second round of the China Open 2011. The players took up the gantlet on outdoor hard courts of the National Tennis Center in Beijing, China on the
5th of October. After one hour and seventeen minutes Pole Radwanska outwitted Chinese wildcard Zheng in straight sets of 6-1, 6-4.
Radwanska was first to open the set and she smashed a few backhand shots down the line to bag the opening game. In the second game she capitalized on a lucky break from Zheng and was leading with a mini lead of 2-0. The lead increased
to 3-0, as she held serve in the third game and again capitalized on a break in the fourth game to secure her lead at 4-0 and then 5-0.
On the contrary, Zheng was put to shame as she was unable to secure a single game in the first five games against             Radwanska. However, Zheng finally won a game on her serve in the sixth game, at this point Radwanska
was looking to clog the opening set. As she served for the set point, she secured the opening set and was now one up over Zheng.
After taking a thrashing in the first set, Zheng opted to serve for the second and unfortunately she got off to an awful start as Radwanska capitalized on an early break. However, Zheng was not ready throw in the towel and made
a comeback by breaking Radwanska immediately in the following game to equalize the score at 1-1.
However, Zheng double faulted in the third game and endorsed a game to Radwanska which was just what the doctor ordered her to do and by holding her serve, she was now leading with a 3-1. During the following four games the players
matched a blow for a blow and the scoreboard rolled at 5-3.
By the end of the ninth game Zheng reduced the deficit to 4-5 but Radwanska was now looking to serve for the match in the tenth game and as she smashed a huge crosscourt, she sealed her victory of the set and the match.
The eleventh seeded Radwanska will now be facing Sofia Arvidsson in the third round.
