Agnieszka Radwanska faces a scare of breathing illness ahead of final clash – Tennis News
World number three, Agnieszka Radwanska, called off her scheduled press conference after a miserable breathing issue that erupted right at the start of the public symposium on Friday. She took several sips of water but the respiratory
illness got worse and the Pole couldn’t continue with the meeting; had to call it off in an emergency.
The third seed Pole is in the final of the Wimbledon Championships having defeated the German eighth seed star, Angelique Kerber, in the semi-final clash on Thursday. She will up against the Five-time Wimbledon Champion, Serena
Williams, of American who will be in the hunt for her 14th Grand Slam title on the eve of Saturday. Both players are capable of winning the match but the experience and form of the sixth seed American has alarmed the Pole for a very tough battle.
Radwanska was struggling to speak a word in the press conference due to breathing problem but she will not be saying a word against the American on the court; all the talking will be done through her racquet so it’s not a major
issue for her unless the problem erupts again and limits her shot making ability.
Previously, the 23-year-old Pole faced the same issue in the Ladies’ doubles contest earlier in the tournament. She teamed up with her younger sister, Urszula Radwanska and was contesting the third round of the Wimbledon doubles
campaign when the respiratory illness forced her to withdraw from the contest.
So, it is just not a minor issue. There is a possibility that crowd will be left dejected with a premature Williams win in the grand finale of the year’s third Grand Slam Championship, contested at All England Lawn Tennis Club.
It will be a terrible ending to the most emphatic tournament that witnessed some major upsets.
However, Radwanska was able to talk to the media representative in the last moments of Friday night. She mentioned, “There are no grass courts in Poland. We have fake grass, that's all. People in Poland are always trying to imagine
what it's like to play on real grass. In 2005, when I won the junior Wimbledon title, it was my first trip to England and the first time that I played on grass."
The Pole is looking to bag her first ever Grand Slam title in professional tennis but she will have to go through the guru of the women tennis, Serena Williams, to achieve this landmark. It is definitely a very difficult task but
not an impossible one.
