Agnieszka Radwanska flattered on her comparison with Martina Hingis – Tennis News
World number four, Agnieszka Radwanska, was extremely flattered to see people comparing her game style with the former world number one, Martina Hingis. She stated, “Of course, I like it when people say that I play similar tennis
to Martina, with variety and trying to mix things up. That’s great to hear as I grew up watching her matches. We played once, in Miami, and it was great to have that opportunity. I won that match in three sets. I have always played this way, with variety in
my game. That’s just the way I play, and it’s good to have had success playing like that.”
It has been a terrific year for the Pole tennis star. She has been enjoying the best time of her life, reaching the career-high ranking of world number four and winning consistently. She won her first title of the season in Dubai
Duty Free Championship, ousting the German beauty starlet, Julia Goerges, in the final. It was the reward for her continuous improvement and steady performance throughout the season. During the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, she stunned the whole world by plonking
the former world number one, Maria Sharapova, in the final to win her first major title of the career.
Radwanska has been coached by her father throughout her life. She needs a change at the moment and travelling out with a new coach. However, when she is at home, she practices tennis with her father who has helped her daughter
to groom into a world class act. Talking about this, she stated, “He has coached me for 17 or 18 years – and I wouldn’t be in the position I am now without him.”
She is comfortable on the court, playing extremely well and looking to climb higher by improving gradually into the best player of the world. The only player who has troubled the Pole this year is the reigning number one tennis
star, Victoria Azarenka, who defeated her in four different occurrences; semi-final of Apia Sydney International, quarter-final of the Australian Open, semi-final of the Qatar Ladies Open and quarter-final of the BNP Paribas Open. Radwanska needs to read the
game of the Belarusian opponent and develop a strategy that will help her in ousting Azarenka who has just lost one match in 2012 to date.
The Pole will start her clay court season on Wednesday against the Hungarian tennis professional, Greta Arn, at Stuttgart.
