Agnieszka Radwanska is the third highest earner of 2012 after winning a title in Dubai – Tennis News
World number five, Agnieszka Radwanska, becomes the third highest earners in 2012 after winning a title in Dubai. She precedes the likes of reigning world number one, Victoria Azarenka, and the Australian Open finalist of Russia,
Maria Sharapova.
The Pole has bagged a fraction over 832,000 dollars with Azarenka gobbling up 2.9 million dollars and her fellow-finalist of the Australian Open joining in on the second spot with 1.2 million dollars. Urszula Radwanska is the younger
sister of Agnieszka who has just been able to make around 58,000 dollars and holds the 78th place in the most earners of the year. No other Pole players are even in the Top-100 list.
She is the third most earning women in the world of sport this year. This is a massive achievement for someone who is just 23-years-old. She started the New Year in Sydney and made it to the semi-final stage of the Apia Sydney
International before being dumped the winner of the tournament, Victoria Azarenka.
Radwanska had a good run in the Australian Open as well and was almost on the verge of pulling up an upset before the Belarusian stomped over her in the third set to oust her. The Pole terrific performer won all her four Federation
Cup round rubber matches before entering the Qatar Total Open in Doha.
Once again, the highest earner of the year to date, Azarenka, stood in her way in the semi-final stage of the tournament in Doha. A rivalry is building up between the two players with Radwanska eager to avenge her three back-to-back
losses.
Luckily for her, Azarenka pulled out of the Dubai Duty Free Championships due to an injury that cleared her path to the title. She staggered past the German beauty queen, Julia Goerges, in the final of the tournament to bag her
maiden title of the year. She was playing well in the BMW Malaysian Open before incurred an elbow-injury; retired from the tournament after winning first two rounds.
The latest update about her injury is that she is recovering extremely well and will be perfectly fit before the start of one of the biggest tournaments in tennis, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The tournament contains a
mammoth prize money of $US 11 million; something every player has their eye upon. It’s a hard court contest and will be contested in California from Wednesday. High seeds, including Radwanska, have first round Byes.
