Agnieszka Radwanska praises Victoria Azarenka after her loss at Indian Wells – Tennis News
World number five, Agnieszka Radwanska, is enjoying an emphatic run of form but was bullied across the courts in the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. It was something that was not thought by any tennis fanatic
out there. Fans were left dejected. They came out there to witness a gruelling encounter but only saw a one-sided assault from the Belarusian tennis ace, Victoria Azarenka.
The Belarusian leads the rankings in the world of women tennis and is unbeaten this year; grabbing three back-to-back titles, including her maiden Grand Slam title in Melbourne, the Australian Open.
Radwanska was also showing classic results at the courts and had come across with a title under her belt. She was expected to test her competitor in the quarter-final but it seems like everyone is far away from the class of the
Belarusian.
On her loss, Radwanska stated in a post-match interview, “If she plays like that she's not going to lose any match soon. She has been on fire the last few months. She's very, very consistent, playing very good tennis from the first
to the last ball. She moves well and hits the ball really well. You know, it's just really hard to play against her.”
Radwanska further added, “You can either laugh or cry when it's just not going your way. It's pretty much done. I just thought I'd have fun instead of cry. It was going by very fast. I had a longer match in the warm-up this morning.”
If a fifth ranked player in the world is saying something like that, it has to be serious. Azarenka is truly bullying the players at the courts and grunting her way to massive wins. She demolished the former world number one, Maria
Sharapova, in the grand finale of the Australian Open.
Sharapova had just dropped a couple of sets on her course to the title match and she could only win three games in total before losing it to her opponent. No one could believe at that stage that the hot favourite Russian has gone
down so easily to the Belarusian.
Radwanska has played well and will climb one step ahead in the world rankings to the fourth spot courtesy to a brilliant performance in Indian Wells, California. Caroline Wozniacki is the victim for the second time this year. She
will slip further in the rankings in the new edition of the rankings on Monday.
