Agnieszka Radwanska receives a warm welcome on her return to Poland – Tennis News
World number four, Agnieszka Radwanska, reached home on Wednesday and witnessed a humongous crowd waiting for her to give a big round of applause for her monumental performance this year especially her first Major triumph in Miami,
earlier this month.
She was surrounded by number of media representatives who came across to question her about her emphatic triumph in the Sony Ericsson Open and moreover congratulate the Pole on her stunning performance throughout the year.
Answering to the questions of the reporters, Radwanska once said, “I didn’t expect the crowds at the airport.” She owns an ardent record of 30-5 this year, falling twice to the reigning world number one, Victoria Azarenka. Apart
from that she has been very prolific so far and defeating the likes of second ranked Russian, Maria Sharapova, clearly depicts that this is going to be one of the best seasons for the Pole.
She further added, “This is proof that you do not have to serve at 210 kph to win.” This was the comment she made about her fellow finalist, Sharapova, who was playing her fourth Miami final. Ironically, the Russian former world
number one hasn’t been able to win the Sony Ericsson Open title so far.
Radwanska commenced her new season at Apia Sydney International and made it to the semis before being dumped the Belarusian number one, Azarenka. She was again ousted by the same player in the quarter-final of the Australian Open.
The Pole won all of her four clashes in the Federation Cup tie and helped her country to marc into the next stage of the tournament.
Azarenka stood in her way for the third time on the trot during the semi-final of the Qatar Ladies Open but the Pole didn’t lost heart and clasped her first title triumph of this year in the Dubai Duty Free Championships. She strained
past the German beauty starlet, Julia Goerges, in the final of the tournament.
The tour of Kuala Lumpur was the only visit that proved poor for the Pole. She was ousted by the qualifier from Taiwan, Su-Wei Hsieh, who later on became the champion of the BMW Malaysian Open. The Belarusian dumped her for the
fourth time in the year during the quarter-final of the Indian Wells but her consistency finally earned her the major title of the year in Miami.
She deserves all the praise and anything at the moment is less in front of the accomplishments of the Pole this year.
