Agnieszka Radwanska slaughters Dominika Cibulkova in the final – Apia International Sydney 2013
World number four, Agnieszka Radwanska, absolutely devastated the Czech tennis ace, Dominika Cibulkova, in the final of the Apia International Sydney on Saturday afternoon. The top seeded Pole contender registered a perfect 6-0,
6-0, victory to claim her second WTA Tour title of the new season in the most authoritative manner.
The one-sided affair lasted for merely 62 minutes, with Radwanska dominating every second of it. She hasn’t lost a single set this year and has registered nine straight-set victories on the trot, bagging two WTA championship titles.
She displayed her true colours on Saturday and literally gave not a single chance to Cibulkova to come on top. The top seed took reins of the contest from the very first minute and sustained her winning impetus all the way to the end.
"In the beginning I think she wanted it too much, and maybe she was also a little bit nervous," Radwanska said after her emphatic title victory in Sydney. "In the second set I think she didn't really know what to do - I was serving
really well and she was making a little bit too many mistakes. I was just playing the same level the whole match. She's a great player, a top player, and she had some great wins all week, so I really didn't expect this."
Radwanska delivered 70 per cent of her first serve on target, winning 21 out of 31 points on it. She crafted a total of 11 break opportunities in the match but six conversions proved sufficient for her to register such an assertive
score line in the end. The world number four was evenly exquisite on her return game and clinched 18 out of 27 first return points.
Cibulkova has been absolutely amazing throughout the tournament. She took off her voyage by defeating the world number eight, Petra Kvitova, in the opening round and then hinted down the seventh ranked Italian, Sara Errani, in
the quarter-finals. She registered her third upset victory over the world number five, Angelique Kerber, in the semis but badly fell to the might of Radwanska in the title match.
