Agnieszka Radwanska wipes away Jelena Jankovic in 3rd round – Toray Pan Pacific Open 2011
Ninth seeded Agnieszka Radwanska whipped former world number one and eighth seeded Jelena Jankovic in the third round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open 2011. The players combated on outdoor hard courts of the Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo,
Japan.  Carlsbad titlist  Radwanska defeated Serbian Jankovic by bouncing back from a set down to secure her victory of 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 in one hour and fifty four minutes on the 28th of September 2011.
Opening the first round of the match was the former world number one, after winning the pitch she smashed an ace at 40-love and secured her first game to place herself on the scoreboard. However, in the second game Radwanska was
unable to direct her shots and double faulted endorsing a game to Jankovic. By holding her serve in the third game Jankovic was now on a mini lead of 3-0.
Radwanska finally made a comeback by not just holding her serve but by also breaking Jankovic in the fifth game to decrease the deficit to 2-3. However, Jankovic was not going let the assault go by and instead, broke back Radwanska
immediately in the next game. As she held her serve in the seventh game, she was looking to break Polish Radwanska for the last time. By capitalizing on a sagacious double fault by Radwanska, Jankovic was able to ease away with the first set.
After taking a thrashing, Radwanska was looking for vengeance and she broke Jankovic in the very first game, then in the third and by holding her serve in the second game, she was leading with a 3-0. However, in the fourth game
Jankovic broke Radwanska and then again in the sixth to equalize the score at 3-3. During the following two games the score progressed on even terms and tied at 4-4.
At this crucial point in the game, the match could’ve titled either way but Jankovic slipped by double faulting on her second serve and gifted a game to the Pole, who then held her serve in the tenth game to clog the set.
By the end of the second set, the players each had won a set apiece and the third set would be the deciding factor. Opening the deciding set was Jankovic, who was unable to hold her serve and by failing to retain her service game,
she gave away a pivotal game to Radwanska.
On the other hand, Radwanska not only held her serve but again as Jankovic’s forehand swing went wayward, broke her adversary to lead with a 3-0 and then 4-0. Dominating all the way through the set Radwanska not only held her serve
but also won all her opponent’s service games to achieve a bagel set victory.
Agnieszka Radwanska will now be facing Estonian Kaia Kanepi in the quarterfinal of the event.
