Agnus Castus?

Question

Is this herb effective for treating PMS symptoms. I'm at my witts end with PMS or PMDD. I am taking Prozac 20mg daily and it's still not helping. Will this herb help me?

It has helped me with mine.........there are other herbs you can add to your supplementation like Dong Qui & Black Cohosh.........calcium + magnesium, Co-Q-10........and ofcourse Omega 3&6....

Yes, it should work for you, and work very well.  I've had it take completely away agonising cramps, almost in the moment, it works that quickly and that well.  Some other things, however:  1)  PMS, and PMDD as severe as you're speaking about really indicates that you need to do a liver cleanse and clean up that diet of yours.  You truly and deeply need to eliminate all refined sugars (which will be difficult for you, as women in this condition CRAVE sweets.  Try first removing all the white cane and beet sugars and going to things like honey, maple syrup, maple sugar, stevia and grain syrups.).  You also need to look at eliminating all meats, all eggs and all dairy for awhile and going veg, to cool your body, and to help that liver of yours to discharge and to lighten up your body.  All of these foods DEEPLY impact the hormonal systems and balance in the body.  If you find you need to add protein, and soy isn't doing it for you, you can add back in some poultry and some fish, but exclusive reliance on poultry will continue to aggravate the condition as excess or exclusive chicken consumption aggravates Wood (or Liver/Gall Bladder) energy.

Vitex agnus-castus is also one of THE bitterest tinctures you will EVER drink in your life, and that's okay, because that bitterness is one of the things about vitex that is precisely so medicinal.  Mix an entire dropperful for every 8oz. of water and sip on it all day, everyday, especially in the two weeks before your period.  In the Middle East, vitex seeds are mixed w/ women's daily porridge grains.

I would also suggest you look into evening primrose oil, angelica (dong quai), scullcap if you are in pain, adding TONS of veggies and most especially chlorophyll to your diet, eliminating coffee and sugar, which deeply seems to whack many women out, and walking the straight and narrow for awhile dietarily.  Marijuana can also help w/ PMS symptoms, so don't forget to look there if solace and calm are needed.  My sweet son has been known to roll me a joint or otherwise make me a gift of cannabis if cramps and irritability are getting me down.

Tons of lemon or lime in water would be good for you as well.

Yes--Agnus Castus will help with your pms symptoms.  This is one of the top herbs for problems with pms.  Give it a try and see if it will work for you--it is also known as Chaste Berry or Vitex.
