Question:

Agree or disagree with Oprah endorsing Obama?

Personally, I don't understand why a celebrity should engage in political matters if he or she has nothing to do with politics or the government. I love Oprah for all that she has done for this world and all the people she has helped, but am I the only one who seems to have lost a bit for respect for her for endorsing Obama? I've heard several times that people believe that "she's more black than a woman" and thats why its Obama and not Hillary that she is endorsing. What are your thoughts?

  1. I may get in trouble for this and for the record I am not racist.

I believe that although Obama has his heart in the right place

Oprah's endorsement of him is strictly because she wants to see the first black president of the united states and be a part of what put him there.

  2. What difference does it make what your occupation is? All Americans should participate in electing who they think is best for the office; any office. If they feel adding their name to a candidates roster of supporters is okay so be it; it is their name and their life.  Hopefully the decision is based on more than novelty (color of s*x) and not for the person who claims the most experience (experience without good results means nothing). Being in Washington means little if they accomplished little, Probably the best president we could have would be a farmer coming out of Idaho who has never been to Washington D.C, does not know the CEO of any major corporation, has a great interest in retiring with a $30,000.00 a year retirement and cares less what big business wants.

  3. I believe that if she were truly more black than woman, she would have endorsed a black candidate long ago (and there were definitely some to choose from). I am not the biggest Oprah fan, but I do have respect for that woman, and I respect the choices she makes. I believe that she endorsed Obama because she really thinks that he is the best thing for our country right now.

I support Hillary by the way.

  4. I don't have strong thoughts on the issue, but I do think her decision was racial which is a little disapointing for me because, like you, I had some respect for her.

  5. I really dont care what Okra Windbag does

  6. This definitely helps Obama.  It probably will pull in many

women voters, who otherwise, would have voted for

Hillary.  Women in America (particularly white women)

    love Oprah.

As for Oprah, she could give a d**n about politics.

Her agenda is all about "Promoting Oprah".

"Look at me, the Great Oprah, supporting my race.

Look at me.  Look at me!"

Yes, Oprah has done good things.  With her money,

why not?  But every time she does, she puts on a great

major production to show off her great deeds.

"Look at me. Look at me, the Great Oprah!"

Real genuine benevolent givers love to do it without

    the fanfare.

  7. ::shrug::

I guess it's a little more noteworthy of an endorsement than most of the threads on this site endorsing one candidate or another, since she's using her own name.

However, "more black than a woman"?  If she endorsed Clinton, then other people would be saying she's "more a woman than black", I guess?

Why is it too much for some people to believe that she endorsed a candidate whose policies she supports?

  8. Do you realize that there are white celebrities endorsing white candidates all the time?  Why is it such a problem for you if a black person endorses a black person?  I don't get it.  Blacks have been voting for white candidates since they were permitted to vote.  This is the first time they have had a candidate who they believed in, what's the big deal..  Put the shoe on the other foot and understand that if it were a white star endorsing a white candidate you wouldn't say a thing.

    SMACKS OF RACISM TO ME!

  9. It's just a matter of popularity, you know how black people are, "hey brother, i got yo back." or in this case a "celebrity status tv show host" funding a popular democratic candidate. They all just want to see a black person in the white house and then start a monarchy of black people, almost like Hitler did with the Jews except they will end up making America the next African Congo Jungle.

  10. since south carolina is using the diebold voting machines that seemed only able to count hillary votes it probably won't make a difference. thank GOD these have been banned in nevada and california!

  11. Oprah simply did what everyone else can do, and that's to pick/endorse your own candidate.  Why do you care?

  12. thats the beauty of democracy baby

  13. I believe every american citizen has the right to back whomever they choose to.

I have not seen a single candidate criticize Chuck Norris for backing Huckabee

  14. What funny about that is she is then voting for gun control, open borders, the Patriot Act which suck for us.

  15. Don't care.

  16. agree, everyone should have own opinion. I like that she isn't all over the place with him, but has stepped back.
