Question:

Agreeableness, Extroversion and Social Grace?

To start let me tell you, I'm not your typical agreeable, extroverted or friendly type. I'm generally introverted and withdrawn, and suffer from episodes of anxiety due to contravailing forces in the social environment.

While, on an intellectual level, I want to be more sociable, agreeable, extroverted, friendly, etc. and while I can understand what it is, it remains an abstract concept. Something I have found incredibly difficult to change in my life.

While some might say personality can't change, I think it can, with the right environment, and the right strategies, we can supress damaging behaviors and direct ourselves towards more positive attitudes.

If someone can honestly give me an answer you'll be saving me many years of anguish! Cheers.

  1. If a person wants to change something about themselves badly enough they can change. You might be able to do it on your own [study behavioral psychology] or you might need help from someone who has experience in behavioral psychology. The main thing is do not suffer through years of anguish.

Before trying to answer your question I checked your profile to try to get more insight. I found it interesting that is is closed even though no one hear can passable know who you are.

My heart goes out to you and I wish you the  best.

  2. well, you need to find people who can accept you as you are, and you them. it's key to accept people 1st.

you don't need to change, really.

one other thing I've noticed is all people are basically the same.

  3. U seem really smart XD. Personality CAN change, but it ain't easy. U got to know yourself better. But I'm not talking about crappy and useless "spirituality". I'd recommend psychology books, (plz don't use an electric shock therapy xD). Sigmund Freud books could help u understand  the "why" and the "how". And they r interesting(personal opinion :P) . If you fell ur problem is really serious, the get specialist to help u.
