Aguadilla, PR - Why did my friend say it was full of crime?

My friend's dad is from there and has land there, but will not build on it because he's afraid of the crime.

What's the problem. I thought crime was under control except in most of PR ?

  1. crime in general, like just walking down the street and getting killed just for the heck of it, their is no such thing. but when people talk about crime in PR, it means mainly drug related.

  2. It depends in where you go and where you stay. I've been a victim of a crime and I live in the middle of San Juan.

  3. The problem is that whenever the United States tightens things up on the drug traffic coming through the Mexican border, the drug lords switch to traffiquing through the Caribbean islands i.e. Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands. The result is that gangs fight over controlling the drug sales and profits and sadly people get killed. Most killings occur in the Metropolitan area the rest of the island towns are a little more tame. Aguadilla is a beatifull city and I have not heard of any killings there.

  4. I'm from Aguadilla and all I have to say is that I don't understand why he is so afraid of the crime there. The crime is not any different or worse, from that matter, compared to other cities in Puerto Rico. I actually think it's a good and nice place to be (there are worse areas), especially if he (the father) owns land ^_^

  5. Well, there is crime anywhere you go. I`m not really sure about Aguadilla. I would understand if it was like San Juan. You just  have to be careful wherever you go.

  6. Well  Aguadilla  is  a very quiet city..I think  he's  just misinformed...
