The newly-appointed Espanyol coach, Javier Aguirre, believes his side displayed a commendable performance in their 0-0 draw with Granada.
Javier Aguirre’s mission to turn around the fate of Espanyol in the Primera Division has started with a point and the Mexican felt that his men showed a fighting spirit.
Aguirre acknowledged the tightness of his team at the back and felt that they were better in that department. He was satisfied with the overall performance of his team.
“We were better defensively than offensively. But our work overall was exemplary.”
“The players were full of fighting spirit and worked well as a unit.”
The 54-year-old has also revealed that he was happy with the fact that he is back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and coaching in La Liga.
“I have good feelings coming back to La Liga. It is very nice to be coaching in this environment.”
Meanwhile, Granada coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juan-Antonio-c19650 Anquela, has reiterated that he would die for his players after some reports suggested that there was some unrest in the dressing room.
Some reports have suggested that Anquela’s men didn’t give their all on the pitch and looked more like disinterested.
However, Anquela came to the defence of his players and said that he is with them throughout.
“I'll always be with my players through thick and thin.”
The Spanish tactician claimed that he will sacrifice his own life for his players.
“My players are mine and I would die for them.”
Moreover, there were also some speculations regarding his future at the club. Some El Granada faithful were seen chanting for the dismal of the coach.
However, the 54-year-old understands the feeling of those disenchanted with the club. At the moment he looks unfazed and said that he will concentrate on the challenges facing the club.
“I've been fighting my entire life. Of course I have strength. I just think of the work I've done and how enjoyable it is.”
“All I can do is continue to work.”
The share of spoils at the Cornella-El Prat stadium means both teams are still at the relegation zone. Only two points separate them from each other.
