Ahern tipped to succeed in Audi Richmond Stakes (Group 2)
Ahern has got a great chance of winning the Audi Richmond Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) at Goodwood in England on Thursday, August 2, 2012. The triumphant horse will be awarded a cash prize of £39,697.
The going will be good in the 6 furlong race, which will test the speed of all participants. The action is scheduled to start at 14:45 GMT and the horseracing fans will be looking forward to this class-1 event.
Although there are some very good runners lined up for action today, the punters will risk more money in favour of Ahern, who is a decent performer. He has been given a general starting price of 2 to 1 by the bookmakers, which clearly indicates that they
also expect a solid run from him.
The two-year-old colt lacks experience at this level, but that will not be a big problem for him. He is a very good runner and has the skills to cope up with pressure situations. He has represented his team in three events till date and has managed to win
just once. He will need to add more to that tally in order to improve his overall strike rate.
The David Barron’s trainee first appeared onto the scene in June 2012 and started off his career with a bang. He was priced 8 to 1 in his first ever outing and was expected to have a tough time against some quality runners.
However, the promising runner displayed extremely good speed, winning the race against all odds. He did not give any chance to his rivals and created a gap of two and a half lengths before crossing the finish line.
Despite gaining a lot of confidence from his first race, Ahern failed to carry on the winning momentum in his next outing. He was not rated as the favourite back then as well, but was still expected to fight at the front. He did have some speed, but had
to settle for fifth in the end.
Dutch Art’s son improved his performance in his most recent run and claimed third place after a close battle with his opponents. He will be chasing the top spot once again under Jamie Spencer, who partnered him last time around as well.
