Ok, I'm almost 13 and this is my 3rd period so far. I use pads.

Thing is, I'm going to England on Tuesday (Well leaving tomorrow night) and coming back late Thursday. I got my period yesterday and the place where we're staying has a swimming pool! What can I do? I don't want to use tampons, and I was going to try tell my mum, but I don't know what to say!

How can I make it lighter or postpone it or something? Anything that I can do so I can go swimming apart from tampons!!

Could I just like stick tissue up or something and just go swimming?

Seriously please help coz I am worrying so much!

Thanks in advance xx

PS, I just started it yesterday and I won't finish till Friday...

  1. Your period doesn't stop in water, some people think that but it doesn't. There is no way you can go swimming without a tampon... not if it's heavy anyway. If it's light you might be able to get away with it but its a slim chance. Just tell your mum, she'll understand. Also, is the swimming pool outside? Because I live in england and I think it's meant to rain this week.

There are ways to stop it and delay it, but it's things like going on the pill, and the pill takes about a month to work properly.

  2. The presure in the water stops any blood thats comming out so you wont have it in the water but you will have it as soon as you get out of the water.  So you could use a panty liner maby and go to the bathroom right away and wrap a towl around you.  You could also you tampons just say "mom im on my period and i dont know what to do when we go swimming?"  I know you will be really scared but she cant get mad at you and after you ask it really wont be bad or you can ask her iff you can use them on an email.  Hope I helped.xo•ox...and good luck

  3. its arrite hun:)     since its only your 3rd period its probably light so i suggest waring a dark colourd swimsuit or bikini:)and chances are it ts be fine and no stains:)   but if its heavy just say to your mum... say something like'' mum i got my period yesterday and ive to go swimming''..

  4. the only way is to use a tampon

  5. I should introduce myself!

    Hey, I am Tina.

WOW Going to England, SO fun! Bring a raincoat he-he!

Anyhow, your on your period and want to avoid tampons at all possible?

Well there is no way you can make it lighter or postpone it...So that is out of the question. I guess you could do the tissue thing, but it isn't smart!

I really think you should try tampons, they will save your LIFE! I think you should tell you mum this, Hey mom you know how we are going to that one motel has a swimming pool, she would be like, yeah, what about it? All you have to say is well I started my period, and I am thinking about tampons, what do you think?

You will really like tampons, don't worry it won't hurt! Get the slim or regular fit...Just be as relaxed as possible. You can I'M me about it, I would be happy to talk to you about it in more dept!

  6. I don't really know why you would want to swim in England. It is freezing there. But just go to your mom and say " Hey mom I just got my period and am not sure what to do when I go swimming." Good luch and have fun.

  7. well your period stops in water

so a light thin panty liner/ pad

in your swim suit should be fine

    :)

    have fun!

  8. i was told to try that too, putting on a light one and going in water. it does stop the period in water, but if your flow is heavy that might not be a good idea....because once you hit the water the blood that is already existing will flow out iwth the water.

i wouldn't stick a tissue up in case the water shrinks it and it falls out. that would be embarassing.

as soon as you line your suit with the thin liner, hit the water. as soon asyou get out of the water, make sure you get to a bathroom and change and put on the right sized liner!

  9. You can either not swim, or wear tampons. It doesn't sound like you should be wearing tampons, though, since you just started. My period wasn't heavy enough for tampons until about six months after I started mine.

Of course, you could just swim with a pad in but that would be gross. If you don't want to wear tampons, then don't swim.
