  1. Bummer that you busted your foot!  Having a cast is never fun as they itch like crazy and always just seem to be in the way.  I understand your predicament and I would suggest two things - both of which keep you from cutting it off yourself.  The first, like you were thinking, just ask your doc if he will cut it off 2 days early.  If that doesn't work, see if he can contact a local doc in the area you will be in on that day and have the new doc cut it off.  I would not suggest you cutting it off yourself as you would risk cutting your foot / ankle in the process.  Good luck!

  2. Definatly got to the doctors. There is always a reason for things so there is probably a reason for the 2 weeks. I would go and see what you can do about that at the doctors. maybe he can take your cast off and give you something water proof instead.

  3. They have water proof casts for broken metatarsals.  My friend has one right now (they broke thier 3rd metatarsal)   The inside is made of a shredded plastic and the outside is made out of fiberglass.  You can swim (well sink) with it on all day long

  4. Think of it this way

Why don't you cut your cast off now, goto california, trip over and refracture it again and spend your holiday in hospital and back to square one?

If it is not healed properly, it will break again much easier and take longer to heal the second time

Be sensible, explain to your doctor about you plans and see how they can accommodate it

  5. I would, Maybe, if it still hurts no, But WHen I broke my wrist I took it off because it pissed me off, and it barely bothers me.

  6. Go back to ask for a water proof cast, they have them at most ortho's.

    heres another suggestion
