1. So get another quote from a company you feel comfortable with, if he is paying for the policy what does it matter to you what company he chooses.

  2. Don't trust the company ?

    Get another quote

Frankly I'd be more worried about your grandpa... watch out for roller skates on the stairs !!

  3. He can't make you sign if you don't want to.

The company is likely more trustworthy than Grandpa.

  4. Your grandpa is trying to do something good for you because he loves you. But you might want to ask him how much life insurance he has on himself. If he has none, encourage him to buy some. But I don't think he would want to buy life insurance for you if he didn't have some himself.

Many grandparents buy life insurance policies for their grandchildren. It's a gesture of love. They usually purchase whole life, or limited pay, (10-yr, or 20-yr payment life).

These policies accumulate cash value, and can be cash surrendered, or borrowed from, later in life.

It's a gift from your granpa to you. Accept it with much love and gratitude.

There is got to be a reason why you don't trust the company from which he wants to buy the policy. You don't say what that reason is.

Call the state insurance department and ask a consumer rep what the "A.M. Best" rating is for that company. Or you may call that company and ask them to send you their A.M. Best rating. It will also show the company's assets and liabilities, how long they have been in business, what states they are licensed in, and the products they sell.

If the A.M. Best rating is "A+" or "A", they are in excellent financial condition, and you don't have a thing to worry about.(A.M. Best, not Standard and Poor's) (S&P's A+ rating is lower than A.M. Best's A+ rating.)

BTW, you may want to do the same for your grandchild one day, and you'll remember this answer to your "problem".
