Ahmed Elmohamady committed to Sunderland, Schalke 04's Manuel Neuer to replace Edwin van der Sar at Manchester United
Ahmed Elmohamady keen to remain with Sunderland
The 23-year-old Egyptian winger Ahmed Elmohamady revealed he intended to move to English Premier League side Sunderland permanently despite interest from other sides. He has been linked with a move to Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.
The Egypt international arrived at the Stadium of Light in a season-long loan move from local side ENPPI, and since then has been a regular for the Black Cats. He revealed he was very happy at the club and wanted to sign with them permanently with the end
of the season fast approaching.
Elmohamady insisted he was prepared to commit to Sunderland, he said while speaking to reporters, “I would like to move here in the summer, if the manager wants to sign me. I like it here at Sunderland and I am happy.”
The Egyptian revealed there had been interest from other sides but he preferred to remain at Sunderland. He has settled in well, making over 28 appearances for Sunderland. He is expected to cost the Black Cats and estimated £2 million to make the move permanent.
He continued, “There has been other interest in me - three other clubs that I know about, in England and abroad. But I am not interested in going anywhere else. I want to come to Sunderland, and my club back in Egypt are happy for me to come here.”

Gross currently manages German side Stuttgart and has been keeping a close watch on Neuer and the goalkeeper situation at Old Trafford. He believes the German international has the necessary abilities to replace the 40-year-old Dutchman in goal. According
to Gross he is the best candidate to take over from Van der Sar, who will finally be leaving Old Trafford after six years.
Gross insisted Manchester United would do well by giving Neuer a chance, he said while speaking to reporters, “He's a fantastic goalkeeper. He will be a fantastic choice for Manchester United. He's already got a lot of experience, he's a good footballer,
he's brave, and he’s good on the ball. He's a really excellent goalkeeper.”
The 25-year-old German is a product of the Schalke 04 youth academy and has been with the German side all his playing career. He made his debut for the senior side in 2004 and since then has made 149 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit. Some of his notable
achievements include the Best Bundesliga Goalkeeper award in 2007 and the Best UEFA European under-21 Football Championship Goalkeeper in 2009.
