Ahmed Shehzad strikes maiden ODI hundred as Pakistan seals six-match series
Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 41 runs at Hamilton to seal the six match series 3-1 with only one match remaining between the two countries. Although it was a brilliant team effort by the green shirts but the victory was led by the youngster Ahmed Shehzad
who struck his maiden ODI hundred in the match.
At the Seddon Park, Hamilton, Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KS-Williamson-c1813 gave way to
Jacob Oram, Jesse Ryder and Kyle Mills. On the other hand, Pakistan brought in Shoaib Akhtar in place of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665 who has been very expensive in the ongoing series.
Pakistani team was off to a sedate start as Kyle Mills bowled an economical spell upfront and gave nothing away to the Pakistani openers. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Shehzad-c42359 took the responsibility on his
shoulders and played the best innings of his short career so far to make sure that the green shirts pile up a fighting total of 268 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets.
Shehzad scored 115 runs which came off only 109 balls in which he struck 12 fours and three towering sixes. Pakistan’s middle order batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325, Misbah ul Haq and Umar Akmal, all looked good for their short cameos but none of them succeeded
in converting the start into a big innings. That was the reason why Pakistan was not able to score more than 268.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/NL-McCullum-c2120 also claimed a scalp for the Black Caps.
Kiwis were off to the worst possible start as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 brought the
home team back in the game through brilliant half-centuries. But none of the other batsmen were able to complement their efforts and as a result the home fell 41 runs short of the target.
Taylor and Guptill scored 69 and 65 runs respectively for the Black Caps. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 in the same over.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Akhtar-c90080 made an impressive
comeback in the fifth ODI as he picked up a wicket after giving away only 32 runs in his eight overs. Mohammad Hafeez could not pick up a wicket but bowled a crucial spell which applied the brakes on the Kiwi run rate.
19-year-old Ahmed Shehzad was named as the Player of the Match for his stunning hundred. The sort of temperament and mental strength he has shown in the series so far, one can easily say that this is the first century of many more to come.
