Pakistan’s former captain and chief selector, Aamer Sohail, feels that the young opening batsman from Lahore, Ahmed Shehzad, has learnt from his mistakes and he seems to be an improved cricketer now.
The 20-year-old made his way to international cricket by performing exceedingly well at the junior level. Shehzad has played two Under-19 World Cups in the previous decade and is thought to be one of the most talented young cricketers in the country. However,
he has not done justice to his potential till date.
Apart from cricketing reasons, the youngster’s discipline has been a major concern for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the right-handed batsman has been fined on numerous occasions and the team management has also complained about his attitude in the past.

In his article for Pakpassion, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595, who is also criticised for his poor shot selection at times. The former opening batsman expressed that Shehzad has been
dropped from the national team many times but he seems to be a lot more mature now.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Shehzad-c42359 is not dissimilar to Umar Akmal. He was thrown out of the side after the T20 World Cup in 2009, made a comeback at the end of 2010 and was subsequently selected for the World Cup in 2011 after which he was dropped again. He looks like he's
learnt a lesson and it'll be interesting to see if it lasts," said the former skipper.
Aamer observed that the talented batsman has worked on his mental side and has started to value his wicket, which is crucial for every opening batsman.
“With this new approach however, Ahmed Shehzad can cement his place in the side - he's looking more compact and not trying to play every shot in the book by reigning himself in,” he expressed.
Shehzad recently played two T20 matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and showed a lot more application as compared to the previous occasions, although he could not play a big knock in bowling-friendly conditions.
