Out of favour Pakistani opening batsman, Ahmed Shehzad is ecstatic to have played alongside Chris Gayle in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Premier League (BPL) and was all praise for the destructive left-handed batsman from the Caribbean.
Shehzad and Gayle represented Barisal Burners in the inaugural season of BPL and the two formed a brilliant opening pair. The young right-handed batsman is considered to be one of the most talented players in the country and at times he matched the brilliance
of Gayle.
Some of the cricket analysts in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 criticize Shehzad for his poor shot selection but he looked an improved player in Bangladesh, where he scored runs consistently against all bowling attacks.
On the other side of the coin, Gayle is having serious differences with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board but he is the most destructive T20 player in the world at the moment. Speaking to Pakpassion, Shehzad revealed that he is a great fan of the West Indian
cricketer.
While talking about his experience of batting alongside Gayle, Shehzad said that he tried to keep pace with the left-hander during the power-play overs but it was impossible to do so after that as Gayle could clear the fence on will.
Shehzad said, “Chris (Gayle) is a great batsman. You can match him for the first 6 overs but then it’s very difficult to keep up with him. Nobody in the world can compete with him when it comes to big hitting.”
The young opener is delighted to have batted with Gayle and claimed the West Indian batsman praised his talent and urged him to keep working on his game.
“Chris was brilliant to bat alongside, Chris was full of admiration for me, he said to me that I have a bright future ahead and to keep on working hard,” the right hander claimed.
The cricketer from Lahore is happy to have performed well in the tournament but is now eager to deliver the goods at the International level.
“I thought I batted pretty well and I hope that when I get my chance for Pakistan, I can bat as well as I did in Bangladesh,” he added.
