Ahmed Waseem advances in qualifying round at All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament
Ahmed Waseem, who is one of the most spirited young shuttlers in India, played with wonderful aggression and advanced into Boy’s Singles U13 qualifying round after beating his compatriot Ali Faiz at the All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament on
Monday, October 22, in India.
The impressive Waseem was at his best when he took on Faiz and remained successful in stamping his mark in the arena by finishing up the battle in a dominating fashion in just 20 minutes.
Waseem started his run in positive manner and kept his rival in all sorts of trouble all the way to end up the contest in straight games by putting up a crushing margin on the score board.
On the other hand, Faiz could not give a good fight and also failed to live up to the expectations of his home fans as he lost the battle to his aggressive rival without proving his worth on court.
It was a wonderful show of top quality badminton put up by Waseem who played attacking badminton by executing powerful smashes.
Waseem showed that he has attained top quality skills on court and remained successful in getting a strong position in the arena.
The aggressive Waseem advanced with a stunning speed in the first part and remained ahead on the board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the confused Faiz failed to put up strong show of court as he lost his focus in the arena and remained struggling.
The positive and aggressive play of Waseem assisted him to secure the opening game with a superb margin of 21-3.
In the following set, Waseem played with the same stunning speed without sparing any chance for Faiz to get a good rhythm.
The well directed smashes and flawless net play helped Waseem to maintain his supremacy over his opponent until the one-minute break.
Faiz could not show strong performance against his spirited challenger who played positive badminton and wrapped up the set with a staggering 21-14 score on the board.
Waseem won this qualifying round contest in straight games by putting up a convincing margin of 21-3 and 21-14.
